GA Based PID Controller for Bidirectional Inductive Power Transfer System

چکیده

Inductive power transfer technology is an efficient mean of transferring energy from one system to another wireless or another contactless. This technology has ability to operate in hostile environments being unaffected dirt and moisture.IPT systems are used in numerous applications. Recently developing IPT based systems for wireless charging of electrical vehicles which is more convenient and more tamper proof the conventional plug-in or hard wired chargers. Bidirectional IPT systems are higher order resonant networks and more complex in nature. ZieglerNichols and Pole placement methods are used to tune the parameters of the PID controller, but these methods are performed well for lower order systems. In this work, bidirectional IPT systems which are higher order resonant networks. For higher order systems the ZN method may cause overshoots, large oscillations and longer settling time. This work, proposes a derivative free optimization technique based on Genetic algorithm to tune the optimal parameters of PID controller. The performance of the GA based PID controller is dependent on the nature of the objective function , which is weighted combination of rise time, settling time and peak overshoot. The performance analysis of conventional and GA based PID controller for bidirectional inductive power transfer systems were compared and simulation studies carried out in MATLAB environment.
